After completing his Bachelor Degree in Marketing, PJ Petkovic moved to The United States from Serbia formerly known as Yugoslavia. Not too long after PJ moved, he started his career in the Senior Living Industry as a Wellness Professional at a Continuum Care Retirement Community in Gaithersburg. Later on he got promoted to a Retirement Sales Counselor. PJ also worked as Marketing Specialist for the CIA, FBI, DLA, DIA, DOD and Military officer’s retirement community in McLean, VA. In 2016 PJ decided to expand his education and graduated with MBA Degree from CBS International University. With over a decade in Senior Living Industry experience, in 2019 PJ happily accepted the position of Director of Sales and Marketing with the Five Star Senior Living Family at Aspenwood. In 2020 PJ Petkovic got promoted to an Executive Director. He has strong passion for what he does, especially helping people find their new permanent home and leading his team. In his spare time, PJ exercises, attends church services, and spends time with his family.
Idowu graduated from the University of the District of Columbia with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She also has a diploma in education. She has over twenty four years nursing experience in both acute and long term nursing care. She has experience in being a nurse educator and a manager of performance improvement. As an advocate for seniors, she utilized knowledge of regulations with compliance to foster residents’ rights. She remains an educator at Montgomery College, training and preparing students for becoming Certified Nursing Assistants and Geriatric Nursing Assistants. She is a mother of three sons and in her spare time she enjoys traveling.
Patrick graduated from Towson University with a dual degree Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy. While at Towson, Patrick met his wife, who is also an Occupational Therapist. Since graduation, Patrick has been working in senior healthcare settings gradually working his way up from treating therapist to Director of Rehabilitation. In his free time Patrick enjoys hiking and going on adventures with his wife and dog Harvey.
Sam oversees maintenance, housekeeping and security. He holds a Third Grade Stationary Engineer License in Maryland. Certified in Refrigeration, Air Condition, Electrical and Residential Wiring. Sam has worked at Aspenwood Senior Living for over twenty eight years and wears many hats. He works closely with the Aspenwood Team, their residents and families on day to day issue as well as managing outside contractors. He loves helping people and assisting residents and families with a smooth transition to Aspenwood.
Peter J. Franklin is the former Food Service Director/Executive Chef for The U.S. Treasury’s Bureau of Engraving
and Printing in Washington, DC. Peter is a 1984 graduate of The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York
and holds a degree in Culinary Arts, focused on classical French techniques and international cuisines. Peter began his
culinary career as Banquet Chef at established resorts in South Florida, such as the Doral Golf Resort & Spa and the
Ocean Reef Club. Peter took his resort experience to the corporate and government dining sectors and transformed
cafeteria service into a fine bistro experience for the business professional. He has most recently served as Executive
Chef/Food Service Director at high-profile dining cafes’ in the DC Metro region, such as Lockheed Martin CHQ/ Center
for Leadership Excellence, AOL Corporate Headquarters, The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, and
The National Institutes of Health.
Katharine Luther has been working in the senior living industry for over 10 years. She began her career with older adults in
dining services and then transitioned to life enrichment services where she has found her forte – planning and implementing
person-centered programs, events, and trips for all segments of the older adult population (independent living, assisted living,
skilled nursing, and memory care).
Prior to joining Five Star in November of 2020, Katharine worked for a Life Plan/Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC)
in Rockville, Maryland. Katharine has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from The American University
located in Washington, D.C. She is also a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP).
After graduating from Towson University, Kathy began her career in senior living six years ago at another Five Star Senior Living community and joined Aspenwood since November 2020.
Kathy realized she could really help seniors and their families by being a resource and connect them with the best home for themselves or a loved one. She had built quite a network of resources through the years working in Montgomery County and can gladly assist individuals to make the best choice for their next home.
She believes that by living in a supportive community our residents can thrive, be engaged and live their best life.
Krista joined the Aspenwood Team in 2018 as a part time concierge. In 2019 she was then promoted to Administrative Assistant and presented with the “SHINING STAR AWARD” of the year. In September of 2020, she was then promoted into the Move-In Coordinator position in the Sales & Marketing Department. Krista makes sure that all incoming residents have the best experience while moving into Aspenwood by creating the easiest and smoothest transition as possible. She is excited to now work in the Sales & Marketing industry and looks forward to expanding her knowledge.
