Executive Director

Heather grew up in the Annapolis area, and loves being near downtown Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay.  She has been an Executive Director with Five Star Senior Living for over 18 years at various communities and the last 4 years at Somerford Place Annapolis. Heather truly has a passion for seniors and it began when she spent summers with her grandmother volunteering with area seniors.  She graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County with her degree in Health Care Administration and also holds certifications as a Dementia Practitioner and Assisted Living Manager. She loves working in a dedicated dementia care community, and finds her job very rewarding helping residents and families.  When Heather isn’t at Somerford she enjoys beach time, day trips with her family and watching her daughter play lacrosse.

Sales Counselor 

Sherry began her career later in life after raising a family. She started in the retail business and had a mentor that taught her about customer service. In 1996, took a position as a receptionist in a new Assisted Living & Memory Care Community. The Community was new and had many opportunities which seemed very exciting to her. Sherry assisted in the Sales & Marketing office and worked closely with families, guiding them through their journey with their loved one. She quickly learned that she could be a resource to families and make a difference in their lives. Later Sherry was promoted to the Director of Marketing within the company. Sherry found her passion was working with families and residents suffering from dementia. She feels such a strong connection and support for these residents and families. Fourteen years ago she came to Somerford Place of Annapolis and has not looked back on that decision. Every day she enjoys making a difference! When she is not at work she loves spending time with her family, friends and 7 grandchildren.

Bridge to Re-Discovery Director

Penny has been a dedicated health care professional for many years working with children convalescents, mental health and nursing/rehab communities.  Penny has a passion for working with seniors; and she has specialized in cognitive stimulation programming and dementia care during her career.  She received the “Inspirational Professional Caregiver Award”  by the Alzheimer’s Association for her work with seniors.  Penny’s philosophy is to treat the “whole person” including their past interests, jobs, and hobbies.  She believes that each person’s life is important and everyone should have the opportunity to learn, stay social and continue to contribute to society.  When Penny has free time she enjoys riding her bicycle, arts and crafts and spending time with her family.

Food & Beverage Director

Rodrigio is the Food and Beverage Director at Somerford Place Annapolis.  Chef Rod oversees the dietary department and ensures all of our resident’s nutritional needs are met while serving them delicious home cooked meals. He started his career with Five Star Senior Living over 13 years ago as a server at Heartlands Senior Living in Ellicott City and worked his way up to Executive Chef.  Chef Rod transferred to Somerford Place Annapolis in October 2017.  He enjoys talking to the residents and hearing their life stories, especially those around childhood and favorite foods.  Chef Rod loves being involved in re-creating resident’s favorite recipes and seeing the joy it brings.  When he isn’t at Somerford Rod enjoys watching and playing sports, going on hikes, fishing and spending time with his family.

Director of Resident Care

FatimAllah West Director of Resident Care, LPN, has been practicing Nursing for 20+ years. She has found her purpose caring for those affected with dementia. For the last eight years she has provided care, support and education to families here at Somerford Place of Annapolis. Because of her understanding of dementia she is a highly sought after support for families; in the initial decision making process to the moment of transition for their loved one. Fatima has said many times, “ I have found my purpose.” Fatima feels purposed to be in a profession, where on a daily basis her primary job is to love others. So with skill, compassion and an understanding, she not only cares for the Resident she also cares for the Families.

Director of Rehab

Dawn has been employed with Five Star for over 10 years.  She started as a staff OT in 2008 and was promoted to the position of Rehab Director for two of Maryland’s Five Star Facilities in 2010.  Dawn attended Catonsville Community College where she received her Associates Degree as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.  She worked for an Acute Rehab Hospital in D.C. for 9 years.  During these 9 years Dawn returned to school in Towson where she received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Occupational Therapy.  Dawn recently celebrated her 10th anniversary with her husband and is blessed every day with her two children.

Business Office Manager

Elizabeth has been with Five Star Senior Living for over 7 years.  She joined the Somerford team as the Administrative Assistant and then transitioned to the Bridge to Rediscovery Director.  She has now been promoted to the Business Office Manager. Elizabeth returned to school to obtain her Certificate in Therapeutic Recreation.  This gave her the opportunity to work in nursing homes, adult day programs and assisted livings. Elizabeth’s passion for elder care truly began as a 4 year old when she would accompany her grandfather to physical therapy appointments.  She had a wonderful relationship with her grandparents which she has passed on the importance of family to her son.

Maintenance Director

Terry began working for Five Star Senior Living as a Maintenance Assistant in 2015 at Heartlands Ellicott City.  Shortly after joining Five Star Terry had the opportunity to move into the Maintenance Director position at Somerford Place Annapolis.  Terry has an extensive background in the maintenance and the technical field and not only brings his knowledge but her friendly face to Somerford.  He really enjoys working with the residents, families and team members.  Terry’s motto is to uplift everyone he comes in contact with.  He can be found throughout the day helping residents with his kind words or a supportive hand.  In Terry’s spare time he loves to cook, and listen to “old school” music.  He loves being a dad and husband and a role model for his children.
