Aging 2.0: Houston Chapter

The Forum at Memorial Woods was the host for the first ever Houston Chapter of Aging2.0. Residents and guests welcomed Aging 2.0, an organization based in San Francisco and has Chapters all over the planet; Aging2.0 is a global innovation network on a mission to accelerate innovation to improve the lives of older adults around the world. Aging2.0 connects, educates and supports innovators through community events, startup programs and content. Now in Houston, the 4th largest city in the nation with the largest medical center and a thriving culture of innovation around startups and technology is well positioned to deliver great value to the Aging2.0 community and great energy to the city”, said Patrick L. The Forum Supports Our First Responders

The residents and team members of The Forum at Memorial Woods are very appreciative of the service and protection provided by the Houston Police Department. Our community hosted a Police Appreciation Breakfast to thank all Houston Police officers for their hard work and commitment displayed every day. We were honored to have Houston's acting Chief of Police Martha Montalvo, Captain J.B. Dale from the Midwest Division and several Police Officers from different divisions join us that morning. At The Forum at Memorial Woods we are committed to continued outreach to benefit our senior community and the city of Houston.

Afternoon Tea with Annie Cater

June 2016 Nationally Recognized Etiquette Authority “Miss Manners,” Annie Cater presented her rendition of “Proper Etiquette” and “Mannerly Tea Techniques.” This afternoon high-tea catered by local Houston business "Your Cup of Tea" was true British Tea & Crumpets style and highlighted the tradition of tea time and the kind of fancy-schmancy social affair where one must mind her manners while delighting on crustless finger sandwiches and an array of dainty scones, cakes, macaroons and other tempting nibbles. Miss Cater, age 87, presented a presentation on the etiquette and history of tea while educating her audience as she spot lights important stories and history of women in the ‘Social History of Tea.’ Who Is Miss Manners? Mrs. Annie Cater is a nationally recognized and respected authority on etiquette “Do’s & Don’ts” in both the business and personal arenas. You probably recognize her from her appearances on OPRAH, Great Day Houston, and The Mike and Matty Show. She has also graced the stage on various NBC and ABC network appearances, was “The Lifestyle Consultant for Tiffany & Co.,” and a columnist for My Table Magazine. For more than 40 years, she has helped men, women, and young children alike become more self-assured, organized and mannerly.

Fiesta

Fiesta

In honor of the hot summer heat The Forum hosted an all-day South of the Border Fiesta earlier this week. We served authentic Mexican cuisine during our lunch and dinner hours, and had plenty of chips and salsa for everyone to enjoy. During Happy Hour, many people were on their feet swinging to the music as the energetic Mariachi Band played classics like “La Cucaracha”, “Besame Mucho” and several others. The top shelf margaritas may have had something to do with the dancing, but either way the residents of The Forum had many reasons to celebrate, and celebrate, they did!
