Each month we choose a destination to explore. This month is Mexico, which gives us a great opportunity to have yet another party! When most people think of Mexico, Mariachis come to mind and we have found a wonderful mariachi band to party with. The Mariachi Pancho Villa Band has achieved a reputation that has allowed it to perform in hundreds of events with a very extensive and varied repertoire of music and songs for different cultures; so, despite the fact that the Mariachi Pancho Villa plays traditional Mexican Music they also play Instrumental, Classical, Cumbias, Sones, Polcas, and more.

Of course we’ll be serving Marguerites and Nachos as tradition demands. Viva Mexico!

This month is Classical Music Month and National Broadway Day also falls in September! Much to the delight of Sandy, your Lifestyle Director. Nobody loves Broadway Musicals more than she does and to prove it she will be performing a show on the 18th made up of some of the greatest Broadway Songs of our time, including Chicago, Cats, Les Miserable, Mame, and Dreamgirls just to name a few. For our newer residents here’s a little of Sandy’s background.

Her four-octave voice range helped her win the “Belgium Singing Festival” for Great Britain which led her to perform for Royalty and all over the world in cabaret, theater, on cruise ships and to numerous television appearances including two half hour specials of her own.

In recent years she has performed with The Delray Philharmonic Pops Orchestra, The Hallandale Beach Orchestra, The Coral Springs Pops Orchestra and was the regular soloist with The Magic City Philharmonic Pops Orchestra.

Sandy has a show stopping repertoire that ranges from Broadway to Opera but on the 18th she will be paying tribute to her favorite National Holiday “Broadway Musicals Day” but will surprise you with a little opera as a tribute to Classical month as well.

As we already mentioned September is classical music month, thanks to President Clinton who issued a proclamation in 1994. Not everybody loves classical music but it is because of the classics that we ultimately got the music we have today. We are kicking off the month with another amazing classical concert by our very own Roy Morano on the 1st.

As an extra special treat for Classical month we bring you an extra showtime with a very special artiste. Monty Bloom is one of the most dynamic performers of his generation, entertaining crowds with his unique arrangements of classical and classic hit songs, with his LED electric violin! Monty began playing the violin at the age of four. By the age of seven, he was already playing violin concertos and was featured in his solo debut in front of an orchestra at the age of eight. He has performed as a soloist with many orchestras in the South Florida area and also continues to perform regularly as an orchestral and chamber musician. He received his musical training from the prestigious Eastman School of Music, where he served as Concertmaster of the Eastman Philharmonic. His playing is noted for its sheer virtuosity and brilliance, as well as a warm, powerful sound. Don’t miss this special treat as we pay homage to National Classical month
