Notes of gratitude

Thank you to all our wonderful families for sharing their experience with Five Star during the pandemic. We’re honored to be your partners in care during this unprecedented time.

“As a physician who works in long-term care, I’ve been impressed with the excellent communication from the administration and staff during this challenging time. I’m so thankful for the excellent job you’re doing to keep the residents healthy and safe while meeting the needs of their families. The team members here are pros!”

– Diana H., The Palms, Mount Pleasant, SC

“My mom has lived at Springwood Court for the past three years. I could not ask for a more loving and supportive staff. Although the pandemic has reduced social interaction, team members strive to continue activities for the residents. They’ve kept us informed throughout the pandemic and implemented every safety precaution. I feel blessed to have found Springwood. I would highly recommend the community for your loved one.”

– Shirley D., Springwood Court, Fort Meyers, FL

“I can't say enough about ALL the wonderful staff here! These last few months have been a little difficult due to COVID-19, but they have gone above and beyond to make things as pleasant as possible for mom while keeping everyone's safety a priority. Mom is treated with kindness and respect by everyone.”

– Resident family member, Crimson Pointe, Rockford, IL

“I want to thank everyone at The Devon for taking great care of my family member and for keeping him healthy and safe. It was heartbreaking not to see my loved one during COVID-19, but with the sunshine visits, FaceTime calls, emails, and other ways of keeping our family updated, it was so much easier. Thank you to everyone from administrators to nurses to housekeeping — we so appreciate everything you do.”

I met with Robin and received a tour of Morningside of Belmont. Many upgrades are being made to the community. The staff were all friendly and attentive. Covid safety measures were enforced. Robin was very gracious and helpful.

When I was searching for a memory care location for my sister, my top two criteria were a knowledgeable and friendly staff and opportunities for her to socialize. The Covid model at Somerford is that residents are in a "bubble," so that they are able to move around within the facility, do activites and eat meals together. The staff at Somerford treats her with respect and affection and understands her needs as a person with dementia. I feel very fortunate, with the guidance of a friend, to have found Somerford and am assured that this is the best place I could have possibly found for my sister.

In Nov. 2019, I moved my dear father to his new home at Heartfields Assisted Living in Frederick. It was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. His dementia made it clear he was no longer safe and able to live in his home alone. Within weeks it was evident that the staff there consider and love their residents like family. We were immediately very active visiting Dad, and became regulars at Heartfields. We were there often with Dad, visiting, talking to staff and residents, nurses, food service and maintenance and business office staff. They work as a team...and it shows. Everyone is friendly and warm.

I must also share one of the most meaningful things I have observed.... .....Heartfields continues to handle the COVID pandemic and the safety and emotional well being of their residents and staff in an exemplary manner. While COVID was no stranger to their door, and my own father contracted COVID, their care of him and others was touching. At a time when I wasn't allowed to be there, I felt reassured that they were following the regulations set forth by the state of MD and local Health Dept. for the protection and safety of those in their care. Their communications about COVID cases, vaccines, visiting and general info. were forthcoming, direct and timely. Lastly, if you are considering a home for a family member, I would encourage you to visit and see for yourself...the family feel, love and care is noticeable......Be present and active ...your senior needs you.....and you too will become part of a wonderful new family at Heartfields!

My mother has now been at Eastside Gardens for a little over a year. The staff is very nice to her and she enjoys all the activities they plan for the residents, especially Bingo. Additionally, the weekly Salon Day is something my mother looks forward to each week. They have done a great job during the pandemic and not one resident has tested positive for Covid. We are very thankful. I highly recommend Eastside Gardens if you need a place for your loved one(a).

I came to live at the Forum 2 1/2 years ago. Since then many things have changed, especially this year with the Covid virus and then this summer with the fire danger. I think Tracy, Wende, and the staff have done a good job dealing with all the new rules, and encouraging all of the residents to follow them too. The Forum has opened the dining room to a limited number of residents, 2 at a table with social distancing everywhere. It seems to be working great. Another thing is that a wonderful physical ed teacher has become the new director of all the activities. Maryanne Katz, the new director, has involved resident ideas for events. Such as this month the theme was,"We are the world." Yesterday there was an event called, The Expo". Tables were 6ft apart and residents had everything from everywhere displayed to show off what their passion is! It was a lot of fun!
Safety is one thing I think the Forum can improve on. I think there should be better lighting around the campus. Also, I would like to see more maintenance people hired.
I would recommend the Forum to anyone who wants to be involved in an ever changing home to live! ! Kathie McNett

I have been with the Forum at Town Center for five years. I am 95 years old and this place fills my needs. It has good food and plenty of it. Great apartments with a housekeeper to clean once a week. A maintenance department to make sure everything is working. Before the virus we had lots of activities to meet anyone's need but the activities have been cut back due to the virus. We have what activities we can with limitations put in place by the state.

Life crisis with an elderly loved one happens and families are faced with making hard decisions about future living arrangements in a COVID crazy world. Where do you turn? Who can help smooth the process? Look no farther than the team at Morningside of Bellgrade. From our first virtual visit, to having every phone call answered promptly, to going the extra mile with a smile and an encouraging word....that is the welcome we received from the Morningside staff. Transition is never easy, growing old and making changes challenges family, loved ones, and staff. Thank you, Morningside staff, you should be proud . We are a grateful family.

My mom moved into Tuscany Villa a few weeks ago. The staff there could not have been nicer or more accommodating. They really made mom feel at home. Colleen Long is a fantastic team member there and goes way out of her way to help with any issues you may have. As far as the facility goes, it is neat and clean. The food is delicious and plentiful. They have many fun activities and even a heated pool. And there are very serious about preventing Covid cases, which I really appreciate during this trying time. Thank you Colleen and all the staff for a job well done.

My mom has been a resident at Summit Place for 2 years. There have been some issues I have had that are usually addressed quickly. The majority of the staff are pleasant and caring. I know dealing with dementia is a hard job. I appreciate the support and love they show my mom. I know with the pandemic it’s been an extremely trying time. The staff are pitching in where needed. Jennifer Phillips and Marvin Smart have been especially helpful to me. They make sure I know what’s going on with my mom, sends picture of activities they are doing or just calls for my mom and I to talk when she is having a difficult day. I do appreciate that very much.

I can easily see the love and dedication of every employee here. They work hard to care for the physical and emotional needs of every person living here. Their covid precautions are top notch and I would absolutely feel comfortable putting my loved one in their care.
