Barry M. Portnoy,
Mr. Portnoy is a founder of Five Star Quality Care and has served as one of the managing directors since 2001. Previously, Mr. Portnoy was a partner and served as chairman of the law firm of Sullivan & Worcester LLP. Mr. Portnoy also serves on the boards of several of our affiliated companies, including Hospitality Properties Trust, Senior Housing Properties Trust, Government Properties Income Trust, Select Income REIT, Travel Centers of America, LLC, and the RMR Funds. Mr. Portnoy has over 25 years of experience in the senior living industry.
Gerard M. Martin,
Mr. Martin is a co-founder of Five Star Quality Care and has served as one of the managing directors since 2001. Mr. Martin has also served on the board of several of our affiliated companies, including the RMR Funds. Previously, Mr. Martin was chairman & CEO of Greenery Rehabilitation Group, Inc., a New York Stock Exchange-listed healthcare services company. Mr. Martin has over 35 years of experience in the senior living industry.
Bruce M. Gans, MD,
Dr. Gans has served as a director since 2001. Dr. Gans is chairman of the Board’s Compensation Committee. Dr. Gans has been Chief Medical Officer at the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation since June 2001. He is also a professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School.
Barbara D. Gilmore,
Ms. Gilmore has been a director since January 2004. She is chairman of the Board’s Audit Committee. Ms. Gilmore also serves on the Boards of Government Properties Income Trust and TravelCenters of America LLC. Ms. Gilmore has served as a clerk to Judge Joel B. Rosenthal of the United States Bankruptcy Court, Western Division of the District of Massachusetts, since August, 2001. Ms. Gilmore is a Registered Nurse and practiced and taught nursing for several years before attending law school.
Donna D. Fraiche,
Ms. Fraiche has been a director since 2010. She is chairman of the Board’s Nominating and Governance Committee. Ms. Fraiche also serves on the Board of Select Income REIT. Since 2004, Ms. Fraiche has been a shareholder in the law firm of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz and is a member of the firm’s Health Law and Public Policy departments. Ms. Fraiche is also Chair of the Louisiana Health Care Commission and has served as Chair of the Board of Trustees of Loyola University, among numerous other business and civic responsibilities.
