Our residents finished their Walk the Line campaign. We tracked the steps and laps of our residents for the month of June. Our residents totaled over 15,000 steps for the month of June. Marcella Williams of Altmeyer sponsored awards for participants as they crossed the finish line. Community partners sponsored steps or residents to raise funds for the Walk to End ALZ in Newport News that will take place in October 2016. A reception serving summer refreshments with plenty of hydration options took place afterwards. We love our residents' big hearts!

Residents, friends and family members enjoyed Hawaiian-inspired cuisine prepared by Chef Lee and were entertained by hula dancers from Ahana Arts Studio and Paul Bell, an Elvis impersonator. Attendees took away Chef Lee's recipe for Southern Sangria, as well as some tropical tumblers. Beach bags filled with summer-ready items, a Hawaiian pictorial guide, ukulele tunes, and Hawaiian-themed movies were given away as door prizes.

The residents of Morningside Newport News welcomed the local VFW chapter in to lead the group in the pledge and some powerful readings in tribute to those who have fallen.
