How Five Star is responding to the COVID-19 virus
For us, you are everything. How you feel, how you spend your day, what makes you laugh, what you need, what you love to eat—we embrace all of it, because we are a community. We support one another and make the most of every single day, together.
Dan joined the team of Mt. Vernon of Elizabeth in February of 2020, but has been with Five Star Senior Living since 2012. His passion for senior living began over 18 years ago when he started volunteering at a local retirement community. He feels it is his calling to work in Senior Living and finds it a privilege to support families as they trust Mt. Vernon of Elizabeth to care for their loved ones. His favorite aspect of his job is getting to know the residents and their family members. In 2009, he received his Bachelor’s degree from La Roche College. When Dan is not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife, serving in his church, and traveling when he gets the chance.

Lisa is an active participant in the Alzheimer’s Association and advocate for those with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
13 years ago Billie Joe was a Project Manager for Westinghouse when her grandfather moved into Mt. Vernon of Elizabeth. After visiting every day and interacting with the residents she was asked to apply for the position of Lifestyle360 Director. Even though times have brought much change to Mt. Vernon one thing remains true, her gratitude and the love she has for her career, she finds it to be the most rewarding job she has ever had.

Nina began following her passion for the culinary arts as a young child, shadowing her aunt in the kitchen. Her passion and desire never left, and she enrolled in culinary classes. Nina joined the Five Star team ten years ago as a server and jumped at the opportunity to become Lead Cook in 2016. We are happy to have her on our team as our Food Service Director. In Nina’s own words, “I love knowing how happy my cooking makes our residents and staff – especially when I serve my lasagna and ‘Pittsburgh-style’ meals. I’m excited to continue growing with my Five Star family by my side”.
