Abdel’s professional career, and indeed his life, began in Morocco where he attended the University of Cadi Avvad, the Institute of Foreign Languages, the Institute Superior Hotel and Tourism, and the University of Cleveland. The hospitality industry has taken him all over the world where he worked among and alongside an extremely diverse collection of colleagues and clients.
With over 20 years in the luxury hospitality industry, Abdel has amassed tremendous experience in management consultation, team building, professional development, strategic implementation, and company collaboration. Abdel is proficient and accustomed to working to complete intricate tasks and complex events within the departments. He is familiar with the extensive work needed to bring a project to completion, tracking multiple projects or functions concurrently, helping colleagues work together to rise to a challenge, provide feedback as needed to help enable the individual and strengthen the collective, communicate professionally and effectively with clients and partners, and ensure assignment completion with a very high level of consumer satisfaction.
Abdel relocated from New York joined the team at Five Star, Chevy Chase Premier Resident in December of 2019 where he currently serves as its Executive Director.
Jonathan started his professional career in the hospitality industry as a receptionist and worked his way up operational leadership, revenue management, and sales and marketing.
Jonathan is known for his open and honest leadership style, delivered with humor and a smile. He thoroughly enjoys team building and helping his colleagues grow.
In his spare time, Jonathan enjoys spending time with his family, three dogs, and experiencing a different country every year. Jonathan relocated from Brooklyn, New York, to the Five Star Premier Residences of Chevy Chase, where he currently serves as the Director of Sales and Marketing.
Cindy Miller is a native of the Washington area, growing up with her siblings in Kensington, Maryland. Cindy has been with Five Star Premier Residences of Chevy Chase since 1995. Originally hired as a Sales Assistant, she was promoted to a Sales Counselor in 1998. Before Five Star, she spent 12 years in asset management with a REIT company based in Rockville. She has a bachelor's degree in business from UMUC. Cindy enjoys boating, reading, traveling to Florida to see her daughter, and spending time with her husband, son, siblings, and friends.
Susan Bick has been working in programming for seniors for over 30 years. Susan began working with seniors as Program Director for the Friendship Heights Village Center and began her employment with Five Star Premier Residences 28 years ago. Susan is a believer in Maslow’s Five Dimensions of Wellness and incorporates all of them into the monthly schedule of programs. A native Washingtonian, Susan is very familiar with all that Washington DC and the surrounding areas have to offer and makes them available to our residents. Susan Bick has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland in Therapeutic Recreation and is a Five Star Customer Service Trainer. When Susan is not working you will find her enjoying time with her husband and 2 sons.
Chris Long has been our Director of Dining Services since January 2011. He has worked in the hospitality field for over 30 years holding positions at corporate hotels, private clubs, private restaurants and Five Star Senior living. Chris earned his culinary degree in professional cooking and baking from Baltimore International College and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in Marketing from University of Baltimore. Chris leads our largest service team to provide dining service to our residents in our Main Dining Room, Assisted Living Center as well as room service. He also plans and coordinates catering of special and family events for our residents here at Chevy Chase. He currently resides in Olney, MD with his wife and two daughters. Chris is actively involved in youth sports with his daughters as a coach and mentor. When he’s not here he enjoys traveling, playing golf and spending time with his family.
Angela Gibson-Cheshier has been our Resident Services Director since September 2007. She has a BS in Social Work from Bowie State University and a Masters in Social Work with a concentration in geriatric/gerontology from Howard University. Angela has worked in the field of geriatrics for over 20 years in direct services as well as administration in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living and independent living communities. Angela is also responsible for our front desk services staff which is the focal point for first impressions and communications within the community. She and her team help residents acclimate to their new living environment and work with our residents and their families to assist them in accessing additional services if needed. In her spare time, Angela enjoys word games, string beading and spending time with her 3 grandchildren.
Ruth M. Dukuly has been the Director of Resident Care here at Five Star Residences of Chevy Chase since May 2007. Ruth is a Registered Nurse and has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Cuttington University College; Suacoco, Liberia. Ruth is also certified as a Case Manager and a Delegating Nurse. Her experience includes working as a skilled nurse for ten years as well as over 20 years in Assisted Living programs in both Washington DC and Maryland. As Director of Resident Care, Ruth leads our dedicated nursing staff in providing excellent care to our residents and offers quality support to our residents, their families and our staff. Ruth emphasizes to her team the importance of being compassionate, efficient, and dedicated and being great listeners which leads to effective problem-solving. Ruth recently became a proud grandmother to her 2 month old grandson. She visits her daughter and son in- law every other week in New Jersey.
Brian McNeil is originally from Gaithersburg, Maryland and is a veteran of twenty years in the US Air Force. Mr. McNeil earned his Masters of Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma in 2014. As our Human Resources Manager since June of 2015, Brian is primarily responsible for employee recruitment and training as well as benefits administration for our service team of over 135 employees. Outside of work Brian enjoys time with his family as well as local and international travel.
Audrey McClain has been our Director of Housekeeping since May 1993. She has worked in the hospitality industry for over 30 years in different capacities and has been a member of the International Executive Housekeepers Association since 2004. Audrey’s past experience of working in the hotel industry, including Hyatt hotels, helps her to bring a different style of housekeeping to our business of senior living. Under Audrey, “FIRST IMPRESSION” is the motto for our housekeeping department. She is responsible for our full service laundry, resident apartment housekeeping as well as the cleanliness and sanitation of all of our public areas. Audrey leads her team of 20 dedicated team members to maintain a clean, sanitary and crisp environment for our residents and visitors. Audrey spends her personal time with her family at home and abroad and with her pet Boxer dog Sammy.
Jeremy studied the fundamentals of cooking at Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland. Afterward he went on to study the finer aspects of cooking at L’Academie de Cuisine in Bethesda, Maryland. After completing his culinary classes, Jeremy immediately went to work at The Cosmos Club in Northwest Washington, DC under the tutelage of Executive Chef Bernard Meehan. From there Jeremy moved on to work at a Private Aviation Catering Company in Crystal City, Virginia and has had the privilege of cooking for numerous business executives, political dignitaries’, and many well know celebrities. He was eventually offered a position as the traveling personal chef for the Secretary General of the National Saudi Security Council, Prince Bandar bin Sultan. This enabled him to travel the world and experience firsthand authentic cuisine from dozens of foreign countries. Along with the Royal Saudi family, Jeremy also had the pleasure of cooking for Nelson Mandela, George H. Bush, and the King and Queen of Morocco. After leaving the world of aviation catering to settle down back here in Maryland, Jeremy went to work as the Executive Chef of a corporate catering company in the Washington Metropolitan area.
Jeremy joined the Five Star family as the Sous Chef in June of 2011 at the Chevy Chase community and now almost a decade later, He is proud to be the Executive Chef here at Premier Residences.
