  5. Enjoy your coffee: Drinking three or four cups of coffee each day might just help you reduce your chance of dementia. Check with your physician on this first. People with health conditions such as coronary disease may still be advised to limit caffeine intake.
  6. Red wine might help: While this topic might be a little controversial, some research has shown that Polyphenol, an ingredient found in red wine may help reduce plaque formations. This is another one to discuss with your primary care doctor.
  7. Get your omegas: Incorporating omega-3 fatty acids into your daily diet is another preventative step you can take to slow or prevent cognitive decline. A few foods rich in them are salmon, tuna, anchovies, and walnuts. 
  8. Manage stress: Caring for a senior loved one with Alzheimer’s disease is mentally and physically exhausting.
