Amber Ridge Memory Care

Cheli Larson, RN
Executive Director

I have been a nurse over 25 years now and for just under 20 of those years I have been fortunate enough to be involved in the senior living industry.  It was a pleasure to have been introduced to the senior living industry at first, through home health care. Making home visits all over the region was my specialty.  Some trips were 4 to 5 hours round trip and some days I stayed in the area and saw many people in one day.  My history in home health involved doing intravenous infusions as well as connecting patients to pain control pumps in their last days of life. I also did many, many extensive wound care dressing changes and specialized tube feedings. Most of my 20 years has been in sales, care coordination, management and administration. I love what I do and feel as though I make a difference in someone’s life each and every day. My passion is working to create moments of joy no matter how brief. Individuals with a Dementia diagnosis sometime get forgotten.  They still experience feelings they’re just more challenged to express them.  I’m impressed with what 5 Star has done with the Bridges to Rediscovery program as the feelings of the individual are the focus. I learn much more about myself, and my life, in this position than anything else.

Wendy King, LPN
Resident Services Director

Wendy has worked in the health care industry for 26 years.  I suppose you could say she was destined to care for others.  Not only did she start working as a Certified Nurse’s Aide when she was 15, but furthered her involvement in healthcare by becoming certified in Medication Administration. Knowing helping others was her desire, she put herself through nursing school next.  It was easy as she was following in the footsteps of her parents who have both been nurses for over 40 years…now there’s a good support system! Prior to coming to Amber Ridge Memory Care Wendy worked in the long term care setting.  She spent her days in the skilled environment, memory care, and provided wound care.  Wendy also did some “travel nursing”.  This experience helped her realize that her passion was in caring for our senior population and more specifically, those who are cognitively impaired. Wendy has been certified in Memory Care training and simply states, “a love for nursing has been passed on “.

Lindsey LaCamera
Manager, Environmental Services

Lindsey came to Amber Ridge Memory care after sending 3 years working for and in home cleaning service and working another 4 years as a teacher’s aide.  She enjoys working with people of all ages and takes pride in keeping a clean, organized environment. “Here at Amber Ridge Memory Care, I am able to do both of things I’m most enthusiastic about.” Lindsey says she finds it, “very humbling to work side-by-side with the residents and offer assistance with the daily tasks they were once so accustomed to doing on their own. “ She finds it rewarding to see the sense of accomplishment on resident faces when they are helped to complete a task. “I feel blessed to have been given the opportunity to work with such amazing people.

Stephanie Butler
Community Relations Director

Stephanie has been with Amber Ridge since 2015. She has been working in the health care industry for 13 years, the last 10 years in sales and marketing.  Stephanie brings with her a compassion for seniors. She really knows how to “get in there” and help seniors discover how to maximize their quality of life while in the most independent setting as possible. Stephanie loves getting to meet new families and learning about their life stories. Stephanie is the proud parent of a son, Brogan.

Brooke Smith
Bridge to Rediscovery Director

Before coming to Amber Ridge Memory Care I worked in long term care for 2 years as an activity director. I worked to obtain my certification in nursing assisting and also have a degree in Recreation, Park and Tourism administration.  I have also had the pleasure of working with physically and mentally challenged individuals.  In addition to working full time I am enrolled in the nursing program at a local college and I am a server for functions at a local convention center. I’m told I have a natural enthusiasm and that I am always happy. I guess I feel that life is just too short to be any other way. My goal at Amber Ridge Memory Care is to work hard to engage your loved one in conversation, movement, laughter and reminiscing.  It has been fun introducing the concepts of the Bridges to Rediscovery program, which focus on just that… for all. We work hard here creating new things to stimulate the mind every day.  I love my job.

Candee Argo
Culinary Manager

Cooking and baking is a passion for Candee.  Her experience includes 33 years of employment with Bishop’s Buffet.   Candee adds that she enjoyed working there and only left because the business was closing its doors for good. Candee is grateful for the experience Bishop’s offered in cooking, baking and management skills and uses them every day for Amber Ridge Memory Care. Bishop’s helped Candee to appreciate an organized kitchen and a neat and organized work area. It is refreshing to listen to Candee talk about how much she enjoys, and takes pride in, the most challenging recipes. When asked what is most rewarding for her in her as a Chef, Candee proudly boasts that maintaining high standards for the meals she creates,  knowing that the people she serves enjoy food that is great tasting, nutritious and colorful bring her great joy. When Candee isn’t at work she enjoys watching movies, being in the sun and near the water.
