Congratulations Melissa Minor-Brown on being named a Top Nurse 2018 by the Delaware Nurses Association & Delaware Today! At Somerford House & Place of Newark, we are proud to recognize and congratulate Resident Service Director Melissa Minor-Brown, MSN, RN on being named a Top Nurse 2018! The Delaware Nurses Association and Delaware Today conducted a survey asking nurses across the state who they considered the best in various areas of practice. Melissa was one of eight winners in the Volunteerism – Service category. We are honored to have such an exceptional caregiver on our Five Star team.

Meet Melissa

Melissa earned her Practical Nurse and Registered Nurse degree from the Delaware Technical and Community College and continued her education at Wilmington University where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Nursing Science Executive Leadership. Her desire to serve and give back led her to start her nursing career at the Department of Veterans Affairs VA Hospital in Elsmere, Delaware. Recognizing a need within the community, Melissa began working with Assertive Community Treatment Teams and the Department of Corrections before joining the Five Star family as the Resident Services Director.
