Five Star Senior Living's 1st Annual Gingerbread Contest!1/4/2010![]() Congratulations to the Winners and all the participants of the 1st Annual Five Star Senior Living Gingerbread Contest! The idea for the 1st Annual Five Star Senior Living Gingerbread Contest came from Will Sanders, Food Services Director at Exton Senior Living, and was coordinated and cheered on by Shanyn Ryan, Regional Director of Food & Dining Services. This clever holiday contest was originally planned for Regions 12 & 13, but as word got out other communities wanted to join in on the fun. A total of 20 communities participated. Entries included gingerbread houses, cars, trees, and even entire villages constructed by residents, staff and even family members, in a true team-building spirit. Tiffany Court invited families in and spent a Saturday afternoon building their village. Other communities entrusted their creations to their in-house Edibles Experts (aka their Food & Dining staff), and Glen Mills' entry was put together strictly by their residents' Men’s Club (great job guys!). Each and every entry was unique and impressive! The contest was judged by Five Star directors with criteria including: degree of difficulty, number of structures, level of detail, overall theme, and originality. The scores were very close, but only three communities could capture this year's top prizes. And the winners are: First Place: Forwood Manor, Wilmington, DE Thank you to everyone who participated! We're already looking forward to more participants in next year's contest, so get your gingerbread blueprints and icing ideas ready!
The other participating communities were: Cherry Hill Senior Living
